ACC announces record revenue as schools receive an average of $39.4 million
The ACC has released its 2021-22 tax return, and the league reported record revenue of $617 million, which is 3rd among the Power 5, with an average distribution of $39.4 million and TV money that was $443.7 million), David Teel reported.
Pitt, the 2021 ACC football champion, received the most at $41.3 million, as per-school payments were at least $37.9 million. Notre Dame received $17.4 million while it played football as an independent.
The payouts vary because of reimbursements for bowl travel and participation in ACC championship events. The increase from fiscal 2021 is because Notre Dame received a full share of nearly $35 million after it played the 2020 football season as an ACC school.
The total increased by $38.7 million from fiscal 2021, or 6.7%, when the ACC joined the SEC as the only Power 5 conferences to have a year-over-year revenue increase. The increase in fiscal 2022 was driven by the ACC Network reaching full distribution in December 2021, the conference said in a statement.
