Dick Vitale brought to tears after receiving standing ovation at Villanova-Baylor game

ESPN’s Dick Vitale shared an emotional moment with college basketball fans during Baylor’s win over Villanova on Sunday.

The game marked Vitale’s return to the court after he’s spent the last several weeks undergoing chemotherapy. Here was his reaction when fans in Waco gave him a standing ovation:

Vitale announced his cancer diagnosis back in October. He was able to call Gonzaga’s win over UCLA in late November, but has since been absent while he undergoes treatment.

Vitale said this week that this would be his first-ever trip to Waco as an ESPN analyst.

The Bears have become one of the best programs in the country and will likely be ranked No. 1 in the next AP Poll on Monday. They defeated No. 6 Villanova 57-36 on Saturday.

Vitale’s future schedule is unknown.
