Greg McElroy reveals ACC Championship Game prediction ahead of Week 1
Greg McElroy has weighed in on the major conference races heading into the 2023 season, and he arrived at an interesting prediction for the ACC Championship Game this year.
On one side of the matchup, McElroy is going with Florida State. Mike Norvell’s program is a common pick by many this year with an experienced roster returning that added other key pieces via the portal.
“I look at the roster, I look at where they’ve improved, I look at the additions they’ve made through the transfer portal… I love their run game, I love the veteran leadership they have at quarterback,” McElroy explained.
The surprising part of McElroy’s prediction comes on the other side of the matchup. He went with FSU facing Louisville during Jeff Brohm’s first year as head coach for the program.
“They will be facing in the ACC Championship Game the Louisville Cardinals. I look at the additions they have made in the portal, I’m a big believer in Jeff Brohm,” said McElroy. “If you look at what he inherited at Purdue and you look at the personnel that he found ways to win games with.
“I don’t think the roster is as bad as some have been led to believe. I actually think the roster is quite good, I just think the relationship between Scott Satterfield and the university got a little sideways and as a result, they never hit their potential in his time there.”
In regard to Clemson, McElroy noted the Tigers have some good pieces but he maintains some questions for Dabo Swinney’s program. Those questions include Clemson’s work in the trenches this season and trying to determine Cade Klubnik’s ultimate ceiling in Garrett Riley’s offense.
