The 2022 recruiting cycle will be drawing to a close in a matter of months, and several ACC programs are recruiting at an elite level.

Florida State, North Carolina and Clemson each have commitments from 5-star prospects so far this cycle.

Here’s a breakdown of the top five prospects in the class of 2022 who are currently committed to ACC programs as of mid-October:

5-star CB Travis Hunter | Florida State | No. 1 overall | No. 1 CB | Suwanee, Georgia

Hunter is a huge addition for the Seminoles, who are currently in need of a talent infusion. Hunter is ranked as the No. 1 overall player in this class, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. He’ll have a great chance to make an early impact for Florida State next season.

5-star DL Travis Shaw | North Carolina | No. 4 overall | No. 2 DL | Greensboro, North Carolina

Similar to Hunter, Shaw is one of the top-ranked players in this class. This is a massive recruiting win for Mack Brown and the Tar Heels, especially as they will be coming off a disappointing 2021 campaign. Perhaps Shaw and the rest of this 2022 recruiting class can help lead UNC to

5-star OL Zach Rice | North Carolina | No. 9 overall | No. 1 OL | Lynchburg, Virginia

Shaw is joined by Zach Rice, who gives the Tar Heels two 5-star prospects and two of the top 10 overall players in the class of 2022. Unlike Shaw however, Rice is an out-of-state recruit — he hails from Virginia — which makes this recruiting job for Brown’s staff even more impressive.

5-star QB Cade Klubnik | Clemson | No. 21 overall | No. 1 QB | Austin, Texas

The No. 1 overall quarterback in this class is headed to Clemson. That’s become a pattern lately, and Klubnik will hope to stand up to the standard set by recent Clemson quarterbacks. Klubnik is Clemson’s only 5-star prospect as of mid-October.

5-star S Sam McCall | Florida State | No. 25 overall | No. 2 S | Lakeland, Fla.

McCall gives Florida State a second 5-star prospect in this class, joining No. 1 overall player Travis Hunter. Like Hunter, McCall should have a chance to play early on in his collegiate career as FSU looks to get back on track during the 2022 season.

Prospects in the class of 2022 will be eligible to sign with their programs during the Early Signing Period in December.
