The late season top 20 candidate list for the John R. Wooden Award has been announced and 4 ACC stars are in contention!

The ACC, B1G and Big 12 all have 4 players on the list, tied for most of all conferences. Representing the ACC is North Carolina’s Armando Bacot, Duke’s Kyle Filipowski, NC State’s Terquavion Smith and Miami’s Isaiah Wong.

The remainder of the finalists for the John R. Wooden Award are listed below.

Terquavion Smith is doing amazing things at NC State. The sophomore is averaging just under 19 points per game for the Wolfpack, which is trying to fight its way to an NCAA Tournament bid. Kyle Filipowski, meanwhile, is playing like one of the best freshmen in the country alongside Alabama’s Brandon Miller.

Wong and Bacot are the definition of veteran reliability at different positions. Wong was a huge part of Miami’s quiet Elite 8 run last season, while Bacot took over in North Carolina’s improbable title run.

The UNC star has picked up where he left off – Bacot is averaging a double double this season in trying to right the Tar Heels’ recent struggles on the court.
