Kirk Herbstreit gives health update on Lee Corso during College GameDay

Beloved broadcaster Lee Corso wasn’t on hand for this week’s edition of ESPN’s College GameDay from Jackson, Mississippi.

Kirk Herbstreit gave a health update on Corso during the telecast.

“I talked to him yesterday just to make sure he’s feeling OK,” Herbstreit said. “He’s going to have some more tests and a procedure maybe done in a couple days but he’s very, very optimistic about being on the show next week. So coach, if you’re watching man, we love you, and we’ll see you soon.”

ESPN previously announced

that Corso wouldn’t making the trip for this game for health reasons.

Pat McAfee also gave Corso a shoutout on the show that’s taking place at the site of an HBCU matchup between Southern and Jackson State. Jackson State is coached by legendary cornerback Deion Sanders.

“And coach if you’re watching, which I hope you are, I wish you were here to experience Jackson State,” McAfee said.

College GameDay has been a weekly tradition for fans across the nation dating back to its inception in 1987. Corso has become a fan favorite throughout the decades and it’s always a treat to see which mascot head he’ll don for his predictions.
