Notre Dame baseball coach Link Jarrett responds to speculation about Florida State job

Notre Dame’s season came to an end against Texas A&M in Omaha on Tuesday night.

For the Fighting Irish, even reaching Omaha was a borderline program-changing achievement — it was their first trip to the College World Series since 2002 and just their third all-time.

But even with the season over, there’s still work to be done with retaining head coach Link Jarrett.

Jarrett is a Florida State alum and a potential top candidate for the Seminoles’ vacant coaching position. FSU parted ways with Mike Martin Jr. after failing to advance out of a regional earlier this month.

Jarrett was asked about any potential interest in the FSU opening on Tuesday night.

“My mind has not gone to that place, and I’m not going there with it right now,” Jarrett told reporters.

Jarrett played for Mike Martin Sr. and Florida State from 1991-94. He was also an assistant for the Seminoles in 2003 before moving on to Mercer. He’s been Notre Dame’s head coach since 2020 and previously served as UNC Greensboro’s head coach from 2013-19.

Notre Dame has advanced in the postseason in both years under Jarrett. In 2021, Notre Dame won the ACC regular season title and made it to a Super Regional. It was Notre Dame’s first postseason appearance since 2015.
