Rece Davis had quite the take on College GameDay Saturday morning. He named Duke as a team that could be a dark horse for the NCAA Title.

Why? Davis likes the players on Jon Scheyer’s squad, despite the ho-hum regular season results. The Blue Devils’ strong group of freshmen Dereck Lively, Dariq Whitehead, Tyrese Proctor and Kyle Filipowski have been playing very well moving into the later stages of the season, after all.

The Blue Devils have been far from bad this season, but it’s nothing like the Duke teams of the past. Then again, we are in a slow year of college basketball as far as elites are concerned. By all accounts, simply making the tournament gives any team a legit shot at the top of the mountain with no true dominant force in the sport.

While Duke has some exciting players, the Blue Devils have really struggled to score at times this season. On top of that, the Blue Devils has just one of two strong wins this season against Xavier and perhaps Iowa back in December.

The Blue Devils are fighting for a top seed in the ACC tournament Saturday night against Virginia Tech.
