Stanford beats Oregon, Arkansas, others for 4-star 2025 quarterback

Stanford has landed a commitment from Murrieta (Calif.) Valley quarterback Bear Bachmeier.

Bachmeier is universally viewed as one of the top quarterbacks in the Class of 2025. He’ll join his brother, Tiger, a Stanford receiver who posted 36 receptions for 409 yards and three touchdowns last season. He chose the Cardinal over Oregon, Arkansas, and Michigan State.

“Stanford is one of the top degrees in country,” Bachmeier told ESPN

of his commitment. “What Coach [Troy] Taylor’s background is, I have full belief and confidence that Stanford football is on the rise and will start winning ACC championships and compete for national championships.”

A 6-foot-2, 215-pound passer, Bachmeier is rated as a 4-star recruit in the industry-generated 247 Composite. He’s the 11th-ranked quarterback in the 2025 class and the 18th-ranked recruit from the state of California. Overall, he’s the 190th-ranked prospect in the class.

As a sophomore, Bachmeier threw for 2,853 yards and 26 touchdowns while completing 73% of his passes and throwing four interceptions. He also ran for 644 yards and 18 more touchdowns. As a junior this past fall, he threw for 2,613 yards and 21 touchdowns against eight interceptions. He added 637 yards and seven rushing scores.

Bachmeier told ESPN he plans to wear No. 47 as a quarterback in college.

His pledge gives Stanford its fourth known commitment in the 2025 cycle. You can see his highlight tape below, via Hudl:
