Boston College offensive lineman Christian Mohogany will miss the 2022 season with a knee injury, according to a report.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel said on Thursday that Mahogany has a torn right ACL and will likely miss the upcoming campaign. He was projected to be one of the best linemen in the country this season.

Mahogany told Thamel that the injury occurred in May while working out at his home.

According to ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr., Mahogany was the No. 2 draft-eligible guard in the country enter this season.

It’s a huge loss for Boston College, who was looking to make a leap in Year 3 under coach Jeff Hafley. Last season, the Eagles went 6-6 and earned a spot in the Military Bowl. However, it was canceled due to COVID-19.

However, Mahogany told Thamel he expects to be back at Boston College in 2023.

“I think I’m probably going to come back because it’s hard [after an injury],” Mahogany told ESPN. “I’m going to leave no doubt on my college career. Especially after an injury like this, I’m going to prove that I can still do it.”

Boston College opens the 2022 season with Rutgers on Sept. 3.
