Ex-Boston College assistant reportedly returning for OL coach vacancy

Jeff Hafley is reportedly bringing back a former key assistant for Boston College heading into the 2023 season.

At the start of February, it was reported that Hafley and the Eagles were moving on from offensive line coach

Dave DeGuglielmo. DeGuglielmo spent just one season with the program while Boston College finished 3-9 in 2022.

According to Pete Thamel, Hafley will replace him with a former OL coach for the Eagles. Per Thamel, Boston College is bringing back Matt Applebaum for the OL coach position after spending the 2022 season with the Miami Dolphins.

Before his stint with the Dolphins, Applebaum spent 2020-21 coaching the OL for Hafley at Boston College.

Boston College earned bowl eligibility in Hafley’s first 2 seasons with the program before regressing with a 3-9 mark in 2022. We’ll see if the return of Applebaum helps the program rebound in 2023.
