Matt Ryan is not quite ready for retirement, but in the mean time, the former Boston College quarterback who played in the NFL for the Atlanta Falcons and Indianapolis Colts, will pick up a microphone. Ryan will join CBS Sports.
Ryan, who won the 2016 MVP award, maintains that he’s not ready to retire, a sentiment he’s said since he was released by the Colts. Ryan has said he could still play at a high level. Ryan is 38, but the 4-time Pro Bowler is coming off the worst season of his career.
Ryan finished with the league’s second-most giveaways (18) despite playing 5 fewer games than Josh Allen (19), was sacked 40 times and benched twice in his only season in Indy.
However his career finishes, Ryan is the franchise’s career leader in all of the major passing categories after being selected No. 3 overall out of Boston College. He won the NFL’s 2008 Offensive Rookie of the Award.
Ryan ranks fifth all time in completions (5,551), 7th in yards passing (62,792) and 9th in touchdown passes (381).
