Boston College quarterback Phil Jurkovec will not play on Friday night vs. Duke, according to a report.

That’s per ESPN’s Pete Thamel, who says Jurkovec will rest this week. He suffered a knee injury against UConn in Week 9 and isn’t healthy enough to play vs. the Blue Devils this week.

Redshirt freshman Emmett Morehead will get the start this week, per Thamel’s report.

Jurkovec has struggled a bit this season, but this is still a big loss for the Eagles. He’s a three-year starter and is capable of being amongst the best passers in the ACC.

This injury continues a nightmare string of health issues for the Eagles in 2022. Boston College has often been without key players, especially on the offensive side of the ball.

So far this season, Jurkovec has thrown for 1,711 yards, 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He’s completing north of 59% of his passes.

Duke can clinch bowl eligibility with a win in this game. Boston College is 2-6 on the season so it would be eliminated from postseason contention with a loss in this game.

Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.
