2023 NFL Mock Draft: ESPN expert updates projections for former Clemson players

The 2023 NFL Draft is now less than 1 month away.

Former Clemson stars Myles Murphy and Bryan Bresee are both potential 1st round picks, and several other ex-Tigers could hear their names called throughout the weekend.

ESPN NFL Draft analyst Jordan Reid released a 7-round mock draft

on Wednesday morning. Murphy is the 1st Clemson player off the board on Reid’s projection, landing at No. 15 overall to the Green Bay Packers.

Here’s Reid’s analysis on the pick:

The Packers need to keep building their edge-rushing group, and Murphy would inject more youth into their defense. Before tearing his ACL in November, Rashan Gary was well on his way to having a career year, while veteran Preston Smith had 8.5 sacks last season. Murphy has shown stretches of being a terror off the edge, although he needs to expand his toolbox as an edge rusher. His powerful hands as a run defender, determination as a rusher and alignment versatility could help him carve out a role early in his career.

Reid is also projecting Bresee to go in the 1st round. He has the former Clemson linemen being selected No. 30 overall by the Philadelphia Eagles.

Clemson last had multiple 1st round picks back in 2021 when Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne were both selected on Day 1.

Here’s where Reid is projecting the rest of Clemson’s prospects to be selected:

  • Trenton Simpson: No. 49 overall, Pittsburgh Steelers
  • K.J. Henry: No. 138 overall, Indianapolis Colts
  • Jordan McFadden: No. 174 overall, Las Vegas Raiders
  • Davis Allen: No. 183 overall, Detroit Lions

In total, that would give Clemson 6 projected selections in the 2023 NFL Draft. The Tigers haven’t had that many players picked in a single draft since 2020.

The 2023 NFL Draft will be held in Kansas City from April 27-29.
