Clemson is gearing up to host a major 2024 prospect this weekend, according to a report.

On3’s Sam Spiegelman is reporting that 5-star quarterback DJ Lagway will be in Death Valley this weekend for Clemson’s matchup with Syracuse. Spiegelman added that Dabo Swinney has taken on a “personal role” in Lagway’s recruitment.

Lagway is perhaps Clemson’s top quarterback prospect in the class of 2024. He’s rated as the No. 30 overall player and the No. 5 quarterback in the country for that class, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

It’s still relatively early in the 2024 recruiting cycle, but it’s still good to see Clemson making progress with an elite prospect.

The Tigers do have a quarterback committed in the class of 2023: 5-star quarterback Christopher Vizzina. If the Tigers can land Lagway, it would be their third consecutive class to bring in a 5-star passer. Cade Klubnik was the No. 1 QB nationally in the class of 2021.

Clemson does not currently have any commitments in the class of 2024. However, that could change in the coming weeks or months. The Early Signing Period for the 2023 cycle is in December. After that period, much of the attention will shift toward the class of 2024.

Lagway attends Willis High School in Willis, Texas. Willis is a small town located north of Houston. He’s listed at 6-foot-2, 225 pounds.
