Antonio Williams emerging as one of Clemson’s top wide receivers

Never underestimate the new guy.

Antonio Williams, freshman wide receiver from Irmo, South Carolina, demonstrated his advanced skills, despite his age, this weekend in Tallahassee.

After a slow start in the first quarter, a crisp, 59-yard throw from quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei was caught by Williams, landing the Tigers their first touchdown of the night and tying things up at 7-7. Offensive Coordinator Brandon Streeter commented on Williams’ ability on the field.

“He’s already playing like he’s a junior or senior that has played a ton of football. Nothing has created him to slow down at all. He plays fast in every situation, and he just does things that are hard to coach. Above all, he just makes the catch. He finds ways to get it done.”
