Clemson trailed Florida State 20-17 with just 7:39 remaining in the game on Saturday evening.

The Tigers, as 9.5-point favorites, ended up covering the spread in a 30-20 win over the Seminoles.

First, it was a Will Shipley touchdown that put the Tigers back in front, 24-20. Then, Clemson’s defense got a pair of stops in the final minutes to seal the game.

The second stop proved to be crucial for some bettors, with Clemson’s Barrett Carter picking up a loose ball and diving across the goal line to push the margin of victory to 10 points.

Here’s the play:

That’s brutal luck for any bettors who were on the Seminoles.

Clemson is now 5-3 on the season and still has an outside shot of contending for the ACC Atlantic Division title. Tigers are 4-2 in conference play.

Meanwhile, Florida State drops to 3-5 on the year and could have a tough time reaching bowl eligibility this season. The Seminoles still have to face North Carolina State, Miami, Boston College and Florida — and would need three wins to get to a bowl game.
