Barrett Carter has been an impact performer for Clemson’s defense the past two seasons. Now, fans can rest easy with the knowledge that they will get to see Carter for another season with the Tigers.

“Being a Clemson Tiger has been the greatest gift that God has given me,” wrote Carter in an announcement on social media. “Having the opportunity to play for this program for the past 3 years has been a privilege, and I am so grateful to everyone that’s been a part of my journey. I am reminded every day just how much I’ve grown, not only as a player, but as a man and it’s thanks to you.

“…After careful consideration and a lot of prayer, I’ve decided that I have some unfinished business to attend to. Therefore, I will be returning for my senior year at Clemson to finish what I have started. Go Tigers!”

This season, Carter finished second on Clemson with 59 total tackles and third with 9 TFL. He also produced 3 sacks and 2 pass breakups.

Carter put together a breakout performance a season ago with 73 tackles, 10.5 TFL, 5.5 sacks and 2 interceptions during the 2022 campaign. While he did not replicate those numbers this season, he remains a key leader, and Carter will provide a boost entering 2024.
