Barrett Carter is one of the top linebacker prospects for the entire 2025 NFL Draft, according to ESPN.

On Thursday, ESPN analyst Matt Miller broke down his top 3 players at each position (plus a sleeper pick) for the 2025 NFL Draft. Carter was listed as the top linebacker on Miller’s list alongside Penn State’s Abdul Carter and Oklahoma’s Danny Stutsman.

Here’s Miller’s analysis on Carter’s draft stock:

Carter was widely considered a Round 2 player for 2024 when this past season began, but he’ll return to Clemson and enter the 2025 draft process as my top-ranked linebacker. A true weakside player, Carter has nine sacks, three interceptions and 12 pass breakups over the past two seasons. At 6-1 and 230 pounds, he’s a superstar with three-down ability at the next level.

Carter could have turned pro this spring, but will instead be back at Clemson in 2024 to help the Tigers bounce back from a disappointing 2023 campaign. Clemson ended the 2023 season with five straight wins, but failed to get to double digit victories for the first time since 2010.

Carter figures to be one of the top defensive players in the ACC again next season. In 2023, he recorded 62 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, 1 interception and 5 pass deflections.
