Brad Brownell confidently makes Clemson's case for an NCAA bid
Brad Brownell has made the case multiple times for Clemson to be in the NCAA Tournament, and the coach did it one more time on Thursday night.
Clemson knocked off NC State 80-54 in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals, and that puts the Tigers in a Friday matchup against Virginia. Brownell was asked about Clemson’s resume after ESPN analyst Jay Bilas said on the game broadcast that the Tigers should be in.
“Yes, 100%, 100%,” Brownell said. “Like 5 Quad 1 wins, who can you beat, and where can you beat them? You don’t play those games at home. We’ve got 4 Quad 1 wins away from home. It’s yes, we should be in the tournament. Obviously I’m pretty adamant about it, I thought we had to win today for sure to make sure. But to me, we should be in.”
Injuries have factored into Clemson’s position, as ESPN’s Joe Lunardi has the Tigers in the “First Four Out” group.
“We should be in the tournament,” Brownell said. “The way we’ve played. The margin of victory in most of our games. A lot of these ACC wins. Beating these guys the way we did, and they should be in. Yes, we should be in the tournament.”
One 80-54 win over NC State later, Clemson’s NCAA Tourney hopes are on more solid footing.
