Sonny Cumbie’s Louisiana Tech team made a classy gesture after its game with Clemson on Saturday evening.

The entire Bulldogs team wrote letters to the family of Clemson defensive tackle Bryan Bresee. He lost his younger sister, Ella Bresee, to a battle with brain cancer earlier in the week.

Here’s what Clemson’s official Twitter account shared on Saturday evening:

Louisiana Tech coach Sonny Cumbie also made a nice gesture by wearing an “Ella Strong” shirt during pregame warmups on Saturday.

After the game, coach Dabo Swinney spoke about the gestures and what it meant to him.

“I want to say how encouraged I was by just the class of coach Cumbie and La Tech,” Swinney said. “You hear so much bad and often times don’t get to hear the good … But just as a human being, I was super encouraged tonight.

“That’s everything that’s good about college football. I’ve never met coach Cumbie but I’ll be a fan of his for the rest of his career and as I told him after the game, this right here is why he’s going to be successful.”

Bresee is back with his family in Maryland and did not play vs. the Bulldogs.

Clemson won the game 48-20 thanks to a balanced offensive performance. DJ Uiagalelei threw for a pair of touchdowns. Running back Will Shipley rushed for 2 scores as well.
