Clemson announces addition of transfer portal QB
Clemson will bring in quarterback Paul Tyson to the program as a transfer.
Tyson was in the transfer portal after he spent 1 season at Arizona State. He entered the transfer portal in November and spent the last month finding his next college football destination.

Tyson will add depth to the quarterbacks room for the 2023 season. Clemson will be Tyson’s 3rd college. He transferred to Arizona State after he was at Alabama from 2019 to 2021. While he was at Alabama in 2021, Tyson appeared in 13 games and completed 10 of 16 attempted passes.
In his lone season at Arizona State, he was a 3rd-string quarterback behind Emory Jones and Trenton Bourget. He did not see any playing time in 2022. Tyson entered the transfer portal shortly after Arizona State named Kenny Dillingham as the program’s next head coach.
Tyson is the great-grandson of former Alabama head coach Paul “Bear” Bryant. At Clemson, Tyson will likely serve as a backup to quarterback Cade Klubnik.
Tyson will have an opportunity to stand out in Clemson’s depth chart in 2023. Clemson will face Tennessee in the Orange Bowl on Friday, Dec. 30 at 8 p.m. ET.
