Clemson coach Dabo Swinney announces season-ending injury for DL Tré Williams

Clemson defensive lineman Tré Williams will miss the remainder of the season with an injury, coach Dabo Swinney announced on Sunday.

He’s set to have shoulder and foot surgery, per Swinney. Williams is a redshirt freshman defensive tackle who has shown promise at times this season.

Swinney also expressed optimism for Williams’ future in the program.

Williams’ season ends with 13 total tackles, 4 tackles for loss and 1 sack.

Clemson likely has just two games remaining — its regular season finale vs. South Carolina on Nov. 27 and a bowl game. H

owever, the Tigers could end up playing for the ACC Championship if things break right for them in the final week.

Clemson needs a loss from both NC State and Wake Forest in order to claim the ACC Atlantic title. The winner of the Atlantic will face Pitt in the ACC Championship Game.

Kickoff vs. South Carolina is at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.
