Uiagalelei is the incumbent, but he struggled mightily at times last season. He wasn’t able to overcome injuries to Clemson’s receiving crops and finished the year with the worst passer efficiency rating in the ACC.
However, his experience — and growth toward the end of last season — will likely mean he begins the 2022 season as Clemson’s starter. It will be up to Klubnik to unseat him in the coming months.
Per Swinney, Klubnik as been as expected so far this spring.
“He’s getting a ton of work with the twos,” Swinney told reporters, via 247Sports. “He’s everything we thought he was.”
Clemson’s spring game is on April 9
