Clemson defeated Pitt 69-62 on Tuesday night, further-solidifying its NCAA Tournament résumé.
The Tigers trailed 31-27 at halftime, but were able to rally back in the 2nd half thanks to an offensive outburst that was highlighted by 42 points after the break. This triumph will go down as a Quad 2 victory over the Panthers, who are currently sitting on the wrong side of the NCAA Tournament bubble.
Clemson’s offense took off in the 2nd half. As a team, Clemson shot 56% from the field, 50% from the 3-point line and 77% from the charity stripe after the break. For the full game, it was a trio of Clemson players who led the way with 15 points apiece: Chase Hunter, Joseph Girard III and Ian Schieffelin.

Clemson dominated both ends of the floor down the stretch as well. The Tigers out-scored Pitt 23-12 over the final 8:43 of the game. The Panthers converted just 1 field goal attempt in last 5 minutes. They went just 1-for-6 from the field over that span.

lemson is now 19-8 on the season and is 4-3 in both Quad 1 and Quad 2 opportunities. The Tigers are currently on pace to make the NCAA Tournament as a No. 5 seed, according to Joe Lunardi’s projection.
Clemson will be in action again on Saturday against Notre Dame.
