Clemson DT suffers leg injury during fall camp

Clemson defensive tackle Tré Williams will miss some time after suffering a leg injury in the weight room this week, coach Dabo Swinney announced on Monday night.

Swinney told reporters that it’s not a longterm injury, but Williams will be out for “a few weeks.”

“Tre’, he’s going to be probably out probably a few weeks, but not anything longterm at all,” Swinney told reporters, via On3

. “He had a little injury in the weight room, but nothing longterm.”

Clemson is now less than 4 weeks away from its Week 1 contest vs. Georgia Tech.

Last season, Williams recorded 4 tackles for loss and 1 sack. He’s e

xpected to have a bigger role in Clemson’s defensive line rotation this season.

If the Tigers are without Williams for any games, it would be a noticeable loss. However, Clemson does have some depth in the middle of its defensive line. Bryan Bresee and Tyler Davis are expected to be the primary starters up front. Ruke Orhorhoro is also back in 2022.

Clemson and Georgia Tech will kick off the season on Monday, Sept. 5.
