Clemson added a major piece to its 2023 recruiting class on Friday afternoon.

The Tigers picked up a commitment from 2023 3-star cornerback Branden Strozier. Here’s his announcement:

Strozier is the No. 39 cornerback in the country, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 32 player from the state of Georgia in this cycle.

Despite the relatively low ranking, Strozier has an impressive offer list. He chose the Tigers over offers from programs like Alabama, Florida and Tennessee, amongst others. Expect his overall ranking in the class of 2023 to rise over the course of this cycle.

Georgia remains an important recruiting ground for the Tigers. Strozier is Clemson’s first commitment from that state so far in 2023, but Dabo Swinney’s staff signed 6 total players in the previous 2 classes.

Clemson now has 4 commitments in the class of 2023. The Tigers are building this group from scratch after losing coordinators Tony Elliott (Virginia) and Brent Venables (Oklahoma) to head coaching jobs this offseason.

Still, the class ranks No. 29 nationally according to 247Sports Composite rankings. The cycle is led by 4-star quarterback prospect Christopher Vizzina, who chose the Tigers over Notre Dame and other top programs.
