Clemson fell 31-30 to South Carolina on Saturday afternoon in Death Valley.
The stunning upset loss pushes the Tigers out of College Football Playoff contention. This was Clemson’s second loss of the 2022 season.

attler repeatedly made the Tigers’ secondary pay for their mistakes. Rattler threw for 360 yards and two touchdowns in the win. South Carolina out-scored Clemson 17-7 in the second half.
Meanwhile, DJ Uiagalelei played perhaps his worst game of the season. He completed only 8-of-29 passes for 99 yards, one touchdown and one crucial interception in the fourth quarter.
He was unable to lead the Tigers on a game-winning field goal drive. He was set to get one more opportunity in the final couple minutes of the game, but Clemson fumbled on t
he punt return.
Clemson did win the Atlantic division, so the Tigers will be headed to Charlotte for the ACC Championship Game next weekend. It will face a North Carolina team that has also stumbled with two losses in November.
The winner of that game is headed to the Orange Bowl. The loser will likely slide down to third in the ACC’s pecking order for bowl games. Florida State’s win over Florida this weekend means the Noles are 9-3 and will likely be the ACC’s second highest-ranked team this week in the updated CFP rankings.
