Clemson received a tough grade from CBS Sports college football writer Barrett Sallee after the Week 8 win over Syracuse.

Sallee gave out report cards based on the team’s performance in Week 8. Clemson received a C- grade for the performance against Syracuse.

Clemson ultimately won the game but it was a challenging game. Clemson trailed at halftime and stormed back in the 2nd half for the win.

Sallee was not pleased with Clemson’s comeback victory and he viewed it as an ugly win. He explained his harsh grading:

“The Tigers got the win over Syracuse, but it was ugly. Quarterback DJ Uiagalelei was pulled in favor of Cade Klubnik with 4:53 left in the third quarter and the Tigers down 21-10. Coach Dabo Swinney said after the game that Uiagalelei is still ‘our guy,’ but the junior’s struggles — combined with his ineffectiveness last year — should have Tiger fans on pins and needles moving forward.”

The Tigers are 8-0 and have wins over three ranked teams so far this season. They could add two more ranked wins — No. 25 South Carolina in Week 13 and a potential ACC title game vs. No. 1 North Carolina — to their résumé.

Clemson is on a bye week in Week 9 and will return to action against Notre Dame on Nov. 5.
