Clemson gives update on injured linebacker before Notre Dame game

Clemson defensive coordinator Wes Goodwin gave an update on injured linebacker Barrett Carter on Monday afternoon.

Goodwin said Carter is expected to make his return against Notre Dame this weekend. He missed the Syracuse contest in Week 8 due to a concussion.

Carter is an important part of Clemson’s defense as he plays the pivotal SAM linebacker/nickel back position. Malcolm Greene started in Carter’s place against the Orange, but his absence was notable.

His role will be especially important this week as he’s likely to be a major part of Clemson’s plan in d

efending star tight end Michael Mayer. Notre Dame’s passing attack is often focused on Mayer, who leads the Irish in receiving by a large margin.

Carter has also been an important factor in Clemson’s rushing defense this season. He has 34 tackles, four tackles for loss and two sacks so far this year.

Clemson will go on the road to Notre Dame this weekend.
