Clemson issues injury update on several key players after UConn win

Clemson defeated UConn 44-7 on Saturday afternoon, but the win didn’t come without a cost.

The Tigers had several key players go out with an injury, including star receiver Justyn Ross and backup quarterback Taisun Phommachanh.

According to offensive coordinator Tony Elliott, Ross was “in good spirits” after the game. He didn’t have an update on Phommachanh, who briefly relieved DJ Uiagalelei before suffering the injury.

Phommachanh finished his day with one completion for 33 yards and three rushes for 16 yards and 1 touchdown. Ross caught 3 passes for 40 yards before having to exit the game.

Clemson defensive end Xavier Thomas also suffered an injury during the game. Coach Dabo Swinney said it was hamstring issue after the game, but that he was held out for cautionary reasons.

Looking ahead, Clemson will play its final ACC game of the season next week against Wake Forest. If the Tigers win, they could enter the final regular season week with a chance at playing in the ACC Championship Game.

Clemson and Wake Forest kick off from Death Valley next week at 12 p.m. ET.
