Clemson lands 2 players in top 10 of latest Pro Football Focus mock draft

Clemson has a pair of potential top 10 players in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Both Bryan Bresee and Myles Murphy are expected to hear their names called on Day 1 of the draft. When healthy, they were a disruptive force for Clemson’s defensive line over the past 3 seasons.

In Pro Football Focus’ latest mock draft

, Bresee came off the board 1st at No. 6 overall to the Detroit Lions. Here some analysis from PFF’s Marcus Mosher on why Bresee is a fit for Detroit:

“The Lions are close to being a real contender in the NFC, but they’ll need improvements along the front seven of their defense. Aidan Hutchinson was fantastic as a rookie, but they need more help on the interior. While Bresee doesn’t have the production of a top-10 pick, he is a unique athlete with incredible size and strength. The best part is that he plays incredibly hard, which is a must for head coach Dan Campbell.”

Murphy won’t have to wait much longer than Bresee to hear his name called, per PFF. He’s projected to g

o No. 8 overall to the Atlanta Falcons.

Here’s Mosher’s analysis on Murphy in Atlanta:

“There wasn’t a team in the NFL with a worse pass rush than the Falcons last season. While they were playing several rookies and young players, it’s a unit that needs to improve. Murphy is less talented than Will Anderson Jr. or Tyree Wilson, but he is worth a top-10 pick since he can play both defensive end and defensive tackle in sub-packages.”

Linebacker Trenton Simpson is also a candidate to be a 1st round pick. He went No. 28 overall to the Buffalo Bills in PFF’s mock draft.

Bresee, Murphy and Simpson are expected to participate in the NFL Scouting Combine later this spring.

The 2023 NFL Draft will be held in Kansas City from April 27-29.
