Clemson makes debut in 2021 College Football Playoff rankings

Clemson has finally arrived in the College Football Playoff rankings this season.

The Tigers, who had previously never missed being ranked by the playoff committee, debuted at No. 23 in the latest rankings revealed on Tuesday night.

This adjustment c

omes on the heels of Clemson’s big win over Wake Forest in Week 12. The Demon Deacons fell to No. 18 in the rankings this week.

Clemson’s win over Wake Forest means the Tigers still have a chance at the ACC Atlantic title going into the final week of the regular season. However, they need both Wake Forest and North Carolina State to lose this weekend in order to win the division.

Clemson has won 4 straight games this season s

ince starting the year with a 4-3 record. The Tigers suffered early-season loses to Georgia, North Carolina State and Pittsburgh.

However, Clemson will have a chance to keep its streak of 10-win seasons alive if it can defeat South Carolina on Saturday. The Gamecocks are coming off an upset win vs. Auburn in Week 12. Clemson hasn’t failed to win 10+ games since 2010, which was Dabo Swinney’s second season in charge.

Kickoff vs. South Carolina is at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.
