Clemson opens as betting favorite in Orange Bowl vs. Tennessee

Clemson enters the Orange Bowl as a sizable favorite over Tennessee.

When the odds opened up, Clemson was a 7-point favorite in the Orange Bowl, per DraftKings. The oddsmakers favored Clemson’s shade of orange over Tennessee’s orange.

In the ACC Championship G

ame, Clemson dismantled North Carolina in a 39-10 win. Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney made a quarterback change and it worked out in Clemson’s favor. Cade Klubnik came in and replaced DJ Uiagalelei. Klubnik passed for 279 yards and 1 touchdown in the win. He completed 20/24 passes.

Klubnik, Will Shipley, and Phil Mafah combined for 3 rushing touchdowns against the Tar Heels. Clemson wide receiver Cole Turner led his team in receiving yards with 101 yards. He also had 3 receptions. Clemson closed out the regular season with a

n 11-2 record.

Two losses in November to Notre Dame and South Carolina ruined Clemson’s College Football Playoff hopes, but Clemson can get a win in a New Year’s Six bowl game. For Clemson’s opponent, Tennessee will be playing this game without star quarterback Hendon Hooker. In Week 12, Hooker suffered a torn ACL in the 4th quarter of Tennessee’s loss to South Carolina. Tennessee will try to pull off the upset with backup quarterback Joe Milton.

The Orange Bowl will kick off on Friday, Dec. 30 at 8 p.m. ET.
