Clemson honors legendary Florida State coach Bobby Bowden with on-field tribute
Iconic Florida State coach Bobby Bowden passed away earlier this year, and Clemson made sure to pay tribute to his legacy on Saturday.
The Tigers wrote the word “Bobby” along with an outline of Bowden’s signature straw hat into the sideline at Death Valley. Here’s a look at the tributeΒ β and an acknowledgement from FSU:

Bobby Bowden’s son, Tommy, is also expected to be in attendance for the game, per Dabo Swinney. Tommy was Clemson’s head coach from 1999-2008.

Bobby Bowden was Florida State’s head coach from 1976-2009. In addition to his numerous other accolades that include two National Championships and 12 ACC titles, he won defeated Clemson 11 times in a row from 1992-2002.
Both Florida State and Clemson enter Saturday’s game in need of a win. It’s been an unusual year for both programs so far, with the Seminoles having four losses already and the Tigers having three.
Florida State holds the all-time advantage in this series, 20-13. However, Clemson has won its last five meetings with the Seminoles.
