Clemson reportedly makes change to 2023 football schedule
Clemson has made an adjustment to its 2023 schedule, according to a report.
The Tigers were previously slated to play Wofford in their season-opener on Sept. 2, 2023. Instead, Clemson will face Charleston Southern (FCS) in that contest.
That news was first reported by FBSchedules.com, who notes that the game vs. Charleston Southern will take place on Sept. 9. It’s unclear whether or not the Wofford game will be played at a later date.
Week 1 is currently an open date for Clemson, which indicates the Tigers are likely to play an ACC opponent in that spot. They opened the 2022 season against Georgia Tech in Atlanta.
The ACC has not yet released its 2022 schedule, but Clemson’s opponents are known. It will face Florida State, Georgia Tech, North Carolina and Wake Forest at home. The Tigers will go on the road to play against Duke, NC State, Syracuse and Miami.
This will be Clemson’s first-ever matchup with Charleston Southern. The Buccaneers went 2-8 in 2022.
Clemson is set to face Tennessee in the Orange Bowl on Dec. 30.
