Clemson running back enters transfer portal after 3 seasons with program

Clemson running back Kobe Pace has entered the transfer portal, according to a report.

That’s per On3’s Matt Zenitz, who notes that Pace had an exceptional 2021 season with the Tigers:

However, Pace’s production and opportunity dropped off in 2022. He battled injuries and fell behind Will Shipley and Phil Mafah in Clemson’s running back rotation. He ended this season with just 30 attempts for 77 yards and three touchdowns.

His departure is a significant loss for Clemson’s depth at running back. However, If Shipley and Mafah both return, Clemson should be f

ine in that area. Keith Adams Jr., who just finished his true freshman season at Clemson, could be in line for a bigger role in 2023.

Clemson does not currently have a running back committed in the class of 2023. The Tigers could be looking to change that over the coming weeks.

Clemson will face Tennessee in the Orange Bowl later this month.
