Clemson slips 1 spot in updated AP Poll entering Week 8
Clemson fell to No. 5 in this week’s updated AP Top 25.
The Tigers defeated Florida State 34-28, but fell behind a pair of programs who picked up ranked wins this week. Tennessee and Michigan both jumped Clemson while Alabama slipped to No. 6.
Georgia, Ohio State, Tennessee and Michigan join the Tigers in the top 5.
Clemson is now 7-0 on the season and is still a top contender to make the College Football Playoff. There are a pair of top 4 matchups brewing in November that should clear the way for Clemson if it can remain undefeated.
Georgia hosts Tennessee on Nov. 5 while Ohio State hosts Michigan on Nov. 26. Clemson will likely jump the loser of each of those games, provided it doesn’t slip over over the final 5 weeks of the regular season.
Clemson is trying to get back to the College Football Playoff for the first time since the 2020 season. The Tigers have been much better offensively this season — an effort that has been led by quarterback DJ Uiagalelei.
Clemson hosts No. 14 Syracuse in a crucial matchup next weekend.
