Clemson will be without several defensive starters against Wake Forest on Saturday.

The players who will not be playing in today’s game are safety Andrew Mukuba, cornerback Sheridan Jones, cornerback Malcolm Greene, defensive end Xavier Thomas, and defensive tackle Tre Williams.

That’s according to beat writers on the ground in Winston-Salem who have been observing pre-game warmups.

The secondary will be taking a hit without Mukuba and Jones. Mukuba has 3 total tackles and 1 interception in 2 games played. His interception took place against Georgia Tech in the season opener. Jones recorded 4 tackles in 2 games.

Thomas is a key contributor as an edge rusher and will be missed. In 2021, Thomas had 12 solo tackles and 3.5 sacks. He has not played in 2022 due to a foot injury he suffered in fall camp. Once he comes back, he will be a pivotal piece in the defensive front.

Greene, a junior cornerback, has 5 total tackles, 1 forced fumble, and 1 interception in 2022. He has been a solid contributor off the bench for Clemson. Defensive tackle Tre Williams will be missed on Saturday with his presence on the defensive line. Williams only played in 1 game this season and will look to get back to the team in the coming weeks.
