Clemson’s matchup in the Orange Bowl is officially set

Clemson will face Tennessee in the Orange Bowl later this month.

Tennessee finished the season ranked No. 6 in the country, according to the College Football Playoff selection committee. As the SEC’s No. 3-ranked team (behind No. 1 Georgia and No. 5 Alabama), the Vols are headed to the Orange Bowl.

This will be Clemson’s first trip to the Orange Bowl since 2015 when it defeated Oklahoma in the College Football Playoff semifinals. It’s Clemson’s first Orange Bowl berth outside of a CFP semifinal since 2013.

The Tigers are 11-2 this season and have the opportunity to win 12 games in a season for the first time since 2019. They have already clinched their 12th consecutive double-digit win season.

Barring injury, true freshman quarterback Cade Klubnik is expected to start the Orange Bowl for Clemson. Klubnik relieved DJ U

iagalalei on Saturday night vs. North Carolina and was excellent.

Klubnik threw for 279 yards and scored two total touchdowns in the win. Uiagalelei will be the backup for Clemson if he opts to remain with the program.

Tennessee will also be playing a relatively inexperienced quarterback in this game. The Vols lost Hendon Hooker to a knee injury back in November. Joe Milton will be in line to start this game for Tennessee.

The Orange Bowl will kickoff at 8:00 p.m. ET on Friday, Dec. 30. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.
