Clemson’s streak of 6 straight ACC Championships officially comes to an end

Clemson’s run of 6 consecutive ACC titles is officially over.

The Tigers lost any chance of winning the ACC on Friday night as NC State defeated North Carolina 34-30.

Wake Forest still controls its own destiny in the ACC Atlantic. However, i

f the Demon Deacons lose on Saturday to Boston College, there would be a three-way tie atop the division at 6-2 between Wake Forest, NC State and Clemson.

NC State would get the nod by virtue of the tie-breaker system. Wake Forest would be eliminated because of its divisional record (4-2) and the Wolfpack advance over Clemson because of NC State’s win in the head-to-head matchup.

Prior to this season, Clemson hadn’t failed to win the the ACC Atlantic since 2014. The Tigers’ streak of 6 straight A

CC titles is the longest since Florida State won at least a share of 9 straight ACC Championships from 1992-2000. The Seminoles were co-champions in 1995 and 1998.

Clemson still has a 10-win season to play for. The Tigers enter this week with an 8-3 record and need to win their final two games of the season in order to extend their streak of 10-win seasons. Clemson has won double digit games every year since 2010.

Clemson and South Carolina kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.
