College football fans erroneously criticize Clemson for ‘storming the field’ after NC State win

Clemson won a big game on Saturday night against No. 10 NC State in Death Valley.

After the win, Clemson fans do what they always do by Gathering at the Paw. It can look like a field-storming, but it’s not. This is a long-standing Clemson tradition that happens after every home game.

This discrepancy was lost on many fans who were watching the end of Clemson’s 30-20 win over NC State. It was also mistakenly identified as a field-storming by ABC’s Kirk Herbstreit, who, ironically, has had 2 sons play at Clemson.

Here’s some of the (erroneous) reaction from fans who jumped to criticize Clemson for storming the field:

This is a massive win for Clemson’s 2022 s

eason. The Tigers now control their own destiny moving forward as they look to re-claim the ACC Atlantic title.

Clemson also got revenge for its loss to this NC State team a year ago. The game ultimately kept the Tigers out of the ACC Championship Game for the first time in 6 seasons.

Clemson has now won 8 of the last 9 meetings against NC State. It won this game comfortably — the margin of victory slimmed slightly after NC State’s garbage time touchdown in the final minute of regulation.

The Tigers will now turn their attention to Boston College in Week 6.
