Dabo Swinney did not hold back when he criticized Clemson defensive end Myles Murphy for “loafing” in last Saturday’s game against Furman.

“Myles Murphy knows when he’s loafing,” Swinney told reporters Tuesday morning. “And if he don’t, he finds out when he comes to the meeting on Monday. If you have any freaking pride in you, you’ll respond. If you don’t, you go to the sideline.”

Even 3 days after 23-point win, Swinney was not happy about what he saw from his star defensive lineman. In the win over Furman, Murphy totaled 4 tackles with 1 solo tackle. Murphy, a junior, did not record a tackle in the season opener against Georgia Tech.

Last season, Murphy recorded 7 sacks, 37 total tackles, and 2 pass deflections. He is having a bit of a slow start in 2022 and will work to get back to the type of season he had in 2021.
