Dabo Swinney comments on Nick Saban-Jimbo Fisher feud: ‘I’m just focused on the Tigers’

Alabama’s Nick Saban and Texas A&M’s Jimbo Fisher were the focus of college football last week after Saban made some controversial comments about A&M’s approach to NIL.

While Saban and Fisher had a very public dispute, Clemson coach Dabo Swinney opted to stay out of the fray.

He eventually did comment on the situation on Tuesday night.

“I’m just focused on the Tigers,” Swinney said on Clemson’s “Prowl and Growl” tour, via The Clemson Insider

. “I ain’t getting involved in all that stuff. I’ve had plenty of comments on NIL. So I’m just focused on our guys and what we need to do in helping our guys be successful.”

Swinney has been a strong proponent of increased NIL regulations. He told ESPN in April

that Clemson would have an NIL program, but that it would not “manipulate” players coming out of high school.

“I think there’s going to be a complete blowup and restructuring of all of college athletics, especially football, and there needs to be,” Swinney told ESPN in that April Q&A.

Along with Saban and Fisher, Swinney is on the shortlist of active head coaches who have won a National Championship. Georgia’s Kirby Smart and North Carolina’s Mack Brown are the others.
