Dabo Swinney gave a mixed review of Cade Klubnik’s performance in the Orange Bowl on Friday.

Klubnik, a true freshman making his first career start, flashed signs of impressive talent but also made several critical mistakes. Swinney acknowledged that reality in his postgame press conference.

“You can easily see how talented he is and what a great player he is going to be,” Swinney said. “He made a lot of great plays — but he had some mistakes. Those are all things he will learn from.”

Klubnik completed 30-of-54 passes for 320 yards and 2 interceptions. He also rushed for a touchdown and was second on the team with 51 rushing yards.

However, Klubnik often struggled to deal with Tennessee’s pressure. He also took a sack at the end of the first half that cost Clemson the chance to put points on the board.

Still, there’s reason to believe Klubnik has a bright future with the Tigers. He’s slated to be Clemson’s starting quarterback for the foreseeable future.

Clemson finished the 2022 season with a 11-3 record and an ACC Championship.
