Clemson receiver Adam Randall tore his ACL in the spring, but is now expected to be back in time for his freshman season.

Coach Dabo Swinney told reporters on Monday night that Randall is trending toward being able to play as early as September.

If Randall can get medically cleared, Swinney said he has no doubts about the true freshman’s ability to help Clemson’s offense this season.

“He’ll help as soon as we can get him back. He was as good as we had in the spring. It was awesome,” Swinney said, via On3

. “If he’s healthy, he can help anybody in the country. There’s no doubt about that.”

Swinney also told reporters that Randall was recently clocked as the fastest wide receiver on the team.

Randall was one of Clemson’s top commitments in the class of 2022. He was the No. 111 overall player and the No. 17 receiver nationally, according to 247Sports Composite rankings

. He was also the No. 4 player from South Carolina.

He joins a wide receiver room that has plenty of potential, but is largely unproven. Due to injuries and various other factors, only one receiver last season (Justyn Ross, who is now in the NFL) cleared the 500-yard benchmark.

Clemson’s schedule begins to toughen up in late September when it faces Wake Forest. The Tigers will also host NC State on Oct. 1.

Clemson opens the 2022 season with Georgia Tech on Sept. 5.
