Dabo Swinney delivered some good news on injured cornerback Nate Wiggins on Monday night.

While doing his weekly radio show, Swinney said Wiggins hyperextended his knee in the loss to Florida State on Saturday.

“We caught some good fortune there,” Swinney said. “Maybe some of that football luck is going to turn on that.”

Wiggins’ injury occurred late in regulation. He was not able to play during overtime, and Florida State took full advantage. Jordan Travis found Keon Coleman for the game-winning touchdown on the Noles’ first possession of OT.

Wiggins has been one of Clemson’s most consistent players so far this season. So far this year, he has 4 tackles, 1 sack, 1 tackle for loss, 1 interception, 1 touchdown and 2 pass deflections.

If Wiggins does have to miss time, it would be a big loss for the Tigers. Jeadyn Lukus is listed as Wiggins’ backup on Clemson’s depth chart.

Clemson will face another tough test in Week 5 as it faces undefeated Syracuse on the road.
