Dabo Swinney gives update on Will Shipley after taking scary hit vs. NC State
Dabo Swinney shared an update on Will Shipley after the star running back took a scary hit in Clemson’s loss to NC State on Saturday.
Shipley was falling towards the end zone when an N.C. State defender hit him in the neck/shoulder area. Here’s a replay of the hit:
Clemson RB Will Shipley took a scary hit to the neck/back. He was able to walk off under his own power slowly but has been ruled out for remainder of the game with undisclosed injury.

Swinney had good news about Shipley and said that the Clemson running back was in concussion protocol. There were some concerns that it was a neck injury, but the scans came back normal.
The team will have to wait and see about Shipley’s availability depending on how the protocol goes, according to Swinney.
Dabo Swinney says “good news” on RB Will Shipley. He’s in concussion protocol. Bigger concern was potential neck injuries, but all those scans came out normal. Says he’s not sure how the protocol goes specifically and they’ll “just have to see” re: his availability

It has been a rough couple of games for Clemson after losing to Miami and N.C. State in consecutive outings. Shipley has played in every game so far with 635 scrimmage yards and 5 total touchdowns.
Hopefully for Clemson’s sake Shipley will be able to suit up and play in Week 10. A home game against Notre Dame is up next.
Kickoff with the Fighting Irish will be at noon ET on ABC.
