Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers will face off against Kentucky in the Gator Bowl, which is set to kick off on Dec. 29 from Jacksonville, Florida.

Swinney met with media Tuesday to work through some housekeeping items as the team prepares for its trip. However, before speaking about football, Swinney gave a quick shout-out to the Clemson basketball team, which is ranked No. 13 in the country after a 9-0 start to the season.

The Tigers haven’t just played cupcakes on their way to an early undefeated record, either. Clemson, led by PJ Hall and Joseph Girard, has downed Alabama, TCU and 8-1 South Carolina on its way to 9-0. The Tigers are one of just 7 teams in the country to still be undefeated after the first month of the season.

Swinney told reporters specifically that it was “cool to see them beat Alabama.”

Clemson is looking like one of the better teams in the ACC, but it remains to be seen how they will match up against North Carolina, Duke and Virginia.

The Tigers have another tough test on the docket this Saturday when they travel to face Penny Hardaway’s Memphis Tigers. Memphis is 7-2 on the season with wins over Arkansas, Texas A&M and Michigan.
