DJ Uiagalelei is keeping his options open for after this season at Clemson.

Uiagalelei is a former 5-star recruit who has had an up-and-down career with the Tigers. But so far this season, he’s playing the best football of his collegiate career.

He could be playing well enough to consider his NFL future as early as this offseason. Uiagalelei addressed that possibility with reporters on Monday.

“For me, man, I haven’t thought about anything, man, I’ve just been focused on the season. Right now I’m focused on Syracuse for this week. I haven’t thought about anything like that yet,” Uiagalelei said. “I feel like that stuff will take care of itself, whatever happens. But for me, I’m just focused on this season, focused on the guys around me. Focused on my offense, defense and the guys in the locker room and the coaches. So that’s all I’ve been focused on.”

Uiagalelei has been one of the best quarterbacks in the ACC this season. He has completed 64% of his passes for 1,665 yards, 16 touchdowns and just 2 interceptions. He’s already surpassed his touchdown count from a year ago.

The former 5-star is also a threat on the ground. He’s rushed for 337 yards and 4 touchdowns through 7 games. The 4 touchdowns also matches a career high with the Tigers.

Uiagalelei has done all of this while leading Clemson to a 7-0 start to the regular season. The Tigers are trying to capture their first Atlantic division title since 2019.

He was also asked about if his he believes his improvements this season have helped his NFL Draft stock.

“I haven’t talked to anybody [in the NFL] about that type of stuff, but for me I feel like each and every week I play, I want to try to get better,” he added.

Clemson hosts undefeated Syracuse in a pivotal matchup on Saturday. The winner will take over first place in the division.
